Take it when you own Huron Blackheart and a Red Corsairs force, or simply when you want a free army-wide +1 to hit every Command phase without any setup at all. Huron's Elite alone is one of the strongest detachment rules in the faction, and it does not ask you to pact, mark, teleport or infiltrate anything.
Be clear-eyed about the price. At 3 DP it fills your whole 2,000-point budget. The rule also names Heretic Astartes Infantry only, so vehicles and Monsters get nothing, and the doubled version depends on one model staying alive and staying in line of sight, which a competent opponent will attack directly. Losing Huron does not switch the detachment off, but it does halve it.
Sample gameplan: deploy Huron centrally with clear sight lines, ideally on high ground, and pick Huron's Elite in your first Command phase. Move infantry so the units doing the important work stay visible to him, which quietly gives them Mobile Marauders as well. Spend Seize the Prize plus At the Tyrant's Command on the turn you commit, Reavers' Flurry on the charge, and hold To the Favoured the Spoils and Encircling Surge for your opponent's turn. Put Voice of the Tyrant on a Reave-Captain leading the unit you most need to work when Huron cannot see it.
