This is SprueSentry strategy commentary, not official rules. The detachment rule, stratagems and enhancements below are taken from the free Necrons Faction Pack and were re-verified on 27 August 2026 against v1.2 of that pack, the version made legal for matched play by the 26 August 2026 balance update. Detachment Point costs and enhancement points are not in that document; the values here were checked against Munitorum Field Manual v1.3 (26 August 2026) and match it, but they move with every points update, so treat them as a planning aid and confirm them in the Warhammer 40,000 app before a game.
Add 2 to the Strength of weapons on Destroyer Cult models. The first time each turn a Destroyer Cult unit destroys an enemy unit or drops it Below Half-strength, friendly Necrons models (excluding Destroyer Cult, Monster and Titanic) also add 2 to weapon Strength until the end of the turn.
1CP. A Necrons unit (excluding Monsters and Vehicles) gains Sustained Hits 1 for the phase.

Cursed Legion is the Necrons Destroyer Cult 'madness' detachment: a 2-Detachment-Point package whose signature bonus snowballs from your Destroyers to the whole army. It's widely rated the stronger of the two Necron Destroyer detachments in (Necrons Faction Pack v1.2, legal for matched play from 26 August 2026).
1CP. A Necrons unit (excluding Monsters and Vehicles) adds 2 to Charge rolls against targets already engaged by a friendly unit.
2CP. A Necrons unit (excluding Monsters and Vehicles) within 6" of an enemy it could otherwise have charged declares and resolves an out-of-sequence charge against that enemy. Whether the unit still gets its Charge bonus is genuinely unclear right now: Faction Pack v1.2's summary of changes says the effect should deny the bonus, but the stratagem as printed in the same v1.2 document stops at resolving the charge and drops the sentence that v1.0 carried. Until an official document settles it, agree the reading with your opponent.
Cryptek model only. The bearer gains the Destroyer Cult keyword and +3" Move. Faction Pack v1.2 stripped out the clause that used to let the bearer attach to a Destroyer Cult unit at Declare Battle Formations, so this no longer buys you a Cryptek riding along with the Destroyers.
Catacomb Command Barge or Overlord only. The bearer gains the Destroyer Cult keyword, its unit gains +2" Move, and the bearer gains +2 melee Attacks.
Destroyer Cult model only. Every model in the bearer's unit adds 1 to its Hit rolls.
Destroyer Cult model only. If a model in the unit is destroyed by enemy shooting, the unit makes a surge move of up to D6".
The core melee blender; +2 Strength pushes their blades into monster-killing territory and their kills flip on the army-wide bonus.

All Destroyer Cult models get +2 Strength on their weapons. Then the madness spreads: the first time each turn a Destroyer Cult unit destroys an enemy unit or drops it below half-strength, until end of turn your other Necrons models also gain +2 weapon Strength — though this spread excludes Destroyer Cult (they already have it), Monster and Titanic models. It's a snowball engine: land one clean kill and your whole army starts wounding far above its weight.
One caveat on Unnatural Aggression. Faction Pack v1.2 is inconsistent with itself about whether that charge still earns you the Charge bonus. The pack's own summary of changes says the effect was updated to deny it, but the stratagem as printed a few pages later in the same document stops at resolving the charge and drops the sentence v1.0 carried. The 26 August 2026 balance update doesn't mention Necrons either way. Until an official document clears it up we're not going to assert a reading, so settle it with your opponent before the game and expect a correction in a later version.

Take it when you want an aggressive, melee-forward Destroyer army that hits far above its weight and want the whole force — not just Destroyers — to snowball in Strength as units die. It rewards a proactive, board-pushing playstyle over slow attrition, and it pairs strongly with a fast 1-DP support at 2,000 points. It's generally the preferred Necron Destroyer detachment over Annihilation Legion.
Sample gameplan: deploy a Destroyer-heavy core (Skorpekh and Ophydian for melee, Lokhust for range) plus an Overlord with the Destroyer Ankh. Use speed and deep strike to threaten multiple targets, then, in the first combat each turn, cleanly destroy or break an enemy unit with a Destroyer to flip on the army-wide +2 Strength. Use Methodical Murder before a key swing, Image of Death to protect an exposed unit, Unnatural Aggression to counter-charge, and Mortis Protocols to keep the grind going.
2 DP, leaving 1 DP at a 2,000-point game for a support detachment like Skyshroud Spearhead. It kept its 2-DP cost in the June 2026 pack.
Cold Fervour: all Destroyer Cult models get +2 Strength, and the first time each turn a Destroyer Cult unit destroys or half-strengths an enemy, your other Necrons models also gain +2 Strength until end of turn (excluding Destroyer Cult, Monster and Titanic models).
Community consensus in 2026 favours Cursed Legion as the stronger Necron Destroyer detachment, thanks to the army-wide +2 Strength snowball. Annihilation Legion is the more melee-charge-focused alternative.
Skorpekh, Lokhust and Ophydian Destroyers as the core, Flayed Ones as cheap screen-clearers to trigger the army-wide bonus, and an Overlord with the Destroyer Ankh to lead them.
