The logic is simple: one detachment makes Terminators hit harder than anything else in the faction, and the other solves the reason Terminators struggle, which is that they move eight inches.

Why the two halves fit so precisely

Butchers of Khorne gives your TERMINATOR SQUAD units a third Blessing of Khorne in the Fight phase, on top of the two the army rule caps you at, chosen after you can see what you are fighting. That is the best damage effect available to a World Eaters player for a single Detachment Point.

It does nothing at all about getting there. Terminators move eight inches, have no transport of their own in the detachment, and spend two or three turns walking under fire in an army with almost no shooting to trade back.

Goretrack Onslaught is the answer. Put the Terminators in a Chaos Land Raider, and when they disembark they get +1 to Charge rolls and [lance] until the end of the turn from Rush to the Fray. The two detachments address consecutive halves of the same problem: arriving, and then killing what you arrived next to.

Stack the enhancements and the sequence gets genuinely hard to stop. Aggressive Deployment (20 pts) on an embarked character gives the Land Raider Scouts 9 inches before the game starts. Murderous Onslaught (5 pts) stops enemies using Fire Overwatch against the unit that disembarks. Sanctified in Slaughter (15 pts) gives the Terminators +1 OC so they hold the objective they land on, which is what a Take and Hold disposition on both detachments is asking for.

How to play it

Turn one is about the transport, not the passengers. With Scouts 9 inches the Land Raider starts well up the table. Move it aggressively; it is doing its job if it dies on turn two having delivered its cargo.

Pick your two army-wide Blessings for durability, not damage. You get a third Blessing for free in the Fight phase from Adamantine Avalanche, and that is the one that should be your damage pick, chosen with the target in front of you. Spending your battle-round Blessings on Total Carnage or Rage-Fuelled Invigoration covers the phases the detachment rule does not.

Spend command points on Focused Ferocity by default. It is 1 CP for +1 Attack on a Terminator squad that is already getting a bonus Blessing. Save A Trophy for the Throne for the game's one big MONSTER or VEHICLE, and treat Wrath Beyond Reason as an answer to a single named shooting unit rather than a phase-long shield, because it only lasts until that unit has attacked.

Bring cheap Icon-carrying bodies anyway. Khorne Berzerkers and Jakhals with Icons of Khorne bank Bloodshed points that add dice to your Blessings rolls, and Berzerkers are the only unit Fury Unleashed names, so a second transport with Berzerkers inside gives Goretrack Onslaught its full stratagem suite.

What to buy for it

This list is unusually catalog-friendly at the entry point and unusually catalog-poor at the top end, and it is worth being straight about which is which.

Combat Patrol: World Eaters is the cheapest start, and Battleforce: World Eaters is the bulk option if you want an army box rather than a starter.

Khorne Berzerkers and Jakhals are the cheap bodies this list wants, and Angron is the centrepiece that makes a slow list viable by demanding an answer of its own.

The two units the list is actually built on, Chaos Terminators and a Chaos Land Raider, have no exact entries in our catalog, so we link nothing for them rather than point you at an approximate kit. That is worth knowing before you plan a purchase around this page.

Common questions

Why is this the recommended first World Eaters army?

Because it fixes the faction's real weakness rather than doubling down on its strength. World Eaters have plenty of melee damage and almost no way to reach the enemy, and this pairing spends 2 DP on arriving and 1 DP on hitting harder once you do. It also costs exactly the 3 DP budget with nothing wasted.

How many Blessings of Khorne can this army have active?

Three for your Terminator squads during the Fight phase. Two come from the army rule at the start of the battle round and apply to your whole army, and Adamantine Avalanche makes a fresh Blessings of Khorne roll at the start of the Fight phase to activate a third for TERMINATOR SQUAD units until the end of that phase.

Which enhancements should I take?

Aggressive Deployment at 20 points on a character embarked in a Dedicated Transport, giving it Scouts 9 inches, is the biggest single improvement. Murderous Onslaught at 5 points stops Fire Overwatch against the unit that disembarks. Sanctified in Slaughter at 15 points gives your Terminators +1 OC so they hold what they take.

Do I need a Land Raider specifically?

No. Rush to the Fray triggers on disembarking from any TRANSPORT, so a Chaos Rhino works too and is much cheaper, though note its Meet Any Challenge ability was reduced from 9 inches to 8 inches in Faction Pack v1.2. The Land Raider is the better home for Aggressive Deployment because it carries a bigger unit and survives the drive up the table more often.
