The go-to formation for lists that run Khorne's mortal and daemonic halves together, chaining fight activations between them.

Khornate Legion is the classic "take a bit of everything" battle formation for Blades of Khorne in Age of Sigmar 4th edition. It rewards mixing Daemon and Bloodbound units in the same list. Exact wording can change with Battlescroll updates, so confirm the current version before playing.

What the formation does

After a friendly Daemon unit has fought, it lets a nearby friendly Bloodbound unit immediately fight as well, rather than waiting its turn. This effectively gives you back-to-back combat activations, letting a Daemon punch and a mortal unit follow up before your opponent can respond.

Who it suits

Players who like a balanced, flexible collection that fields both Daemons and Bloodbound together. It's forgiving and thematic, and lets you use each half's strengths without over-specialising.

Key units

  • Bloodletters or Bloodcrushers as the Daemon trigger
  • Blood Warriors or Skullreapers as the follow-up Bloodbound hammer
  • A Bloodthirster or Skarbrand as an independent centrepiece
  • Bloodsecrator and Slaughterpriest for buffs and prayers

When to pick it

Choose Khornate Legion when your collection is genuinely mixed and you want reliable double-activations in combat rather than committing to a pure Daemon or pure mortal build.

Common questions

Do I need an even split of Daemons and Bloodbound?

No, but you get the most from it when you have both, positioned so a Daemon fight can trigger a nearby Bloodbound follow-up. Lists skewed heavily one way may prefer a more specialised formation.

Is Khornate Legion a competitive pick?

It's a solid, flexible default. The chained activations are strong in the combat phase, but competitive value shifts with points and Battlescroll changes, so check current sources.
