Cold-Hearted Murderers builds on the Anointed mechanic. When your anointed unit fights, you can have a nearby friendly non-hero unit pile in and fight immediately after, with improved critical hits. It is a combo formation for landing a decisive alpha strike. Verify exact wording in your battletome.

What the formation does

After your anointed unit fights, you pick a friendly non-hero unit in combat range to fight straight after, gaining a critical-hit upgrade (auto-wound or mortal wound on crits) for its melee weapons. That is a burst of extra, higher-quality attacks concentrated where you need it.

Who it suits

Aggressive players who want to delete a priority target in one activation chain. It rewards planning your charges so the anointed unit and a hard-hitting partner are both in the same fight.

Key units

  • An anointed non-unique hero to power the trigger
  • A high-volume or elite melee unit as the follow-up (Witch Aelves, Sisters of Slaughter, or Blood Sisters)
  • Support pieces to make sure both units reach the same combat

When to pick it

Pick it when your plan is to win by removing key enemy units in the combat phase, especially against elite armies where doubling up crit-boosted attacks can punch through Wards and armor. Confirm the crit type and eligibility in the current book.

Common questions

Can the follow-up unit be a hero?

As aggregated, the extra fight is for a non-hero unit. Check your battletome for the exact restriction before relying on it.

What happens if my anointed hero dies?

Bloody Succession lets another eligible hero become anointed, so the formation's engine can keep running even after you lose the original anointed unit.
