Arcanite Cabal is the anti-magic control battle formation for Disciples of Tzeentch in Age of Sigmar 4th edition, built around Arcanite (mortal) casters. It rewards a spell-dense list by making your unbinds more reliable and cheaper to follow up on. Confirm the exact bonuses and command interactions in your current battletome.

What the formation does

It adds to unbinding rolls for friendly Arcanite units, and when one of those units successfully unbinds a spell, it can use the Magical Intervention command that phase without paying the usual command-point cost. That lets you deny enemy magic aggressively while keeping command points free for your own plans.

Who it suits

Players who want to win by controlling the magic phase and starving casting-reliant opponents of their spells. It's ideal for a caster-heavy Arcanite list that already fields multiple wizards.

Key units

  • Arcanite caster heroes such as the Changecaster, Magister and The Curseling
  • Kairos Fateweaver or a Lord of Change to dominate casting and unbinding
  • Pink Horrors and Tzaangors to screen the fragile wizards
  • The Blue Scribes and similar support for extra magical utility

When to pick it

Pick Arcanite Cabal against magic-dependent armies β€” anyone whose gameplan hinges on a few big spells. Shutting those down while you cast freely can decide the game before combat even matters.

Common questions

Does this formation help against non-magic armies?

Less so β€” its core benefit is anti-magic. Against opponents with few or no wizards you get little from the unbind bonus, so consider a different formation if you expect low-magic matchups.

Do I need mortal Arcanite casters, or do daemon wizards count?

The formation's bonuses key off the Arcanite keyword, so mortal Arcanite casters are central. Check each caster's keywords in the current battletome to confirm which of your wizards benefit.
