Change Host is the daemon-focused battle formation for Disciples of Tzeentch in Age of Sigmar 4th edition. It rewards a list built around daemon units by letting you yank them out of a fight and set them back up elsewhere. Confirm the exact roll, timing and restrictions in your current battletome, as Battlescrolls can adjust them.
What the formation does
At the end of your turn you can pick a Disciples of Tzeentch Daemon unit that is in combat and, on a successful roll, remove it and set it back up on the battlefield. This lets daemons disengage, reposition, and reappear where you need them β a defining Tzeentch trick that turns your daemon units into slippery, hard-to-pin threats.
Who it suits
Players who want a mobile, objective-grabbing daemon army and enjoy out-manoeuvring the opponent rather than standing and fighting. It is ideal if your collection leans on Horrors, Flamers, Screamers and a Greater Daemon.
Key units
- Pink Horrors as scoring, screening daemon battleline
- Flamers and Exalted Flamer / Burning Chariot for mobile mortal-wound shooting
- Screamers of Tzeentch for fast harassment
- Lord of Change or Kairos Fateweaver as the daemon anchor and caster
When to pick it
Choose Change Host when your list is daemon-heavy and the mission rewards mobility and objective control. It shines against slower armies you can dance around, and helps you extract valuable units before they are ground down.
Common questions
Does Change Host only work on daemon units?
Its signature teleport targets Disciples of Tzeentch Daemon units, so a mortal-heavy Tzaangor list gets less from it. Build around daemons to make the most of the formation, and check the exact keyword requirements in the current battletome.
Is the redeploy guaranteed?
No β it typically requires a dice roll to succeed, so treat it as a strong option rather than a certainty. Verify the current success threshold and any restrictions in your battletome and the latest Battlescroll.
