Gritty Fortune-Hunters leans into the Vongrim infantry, granting Vongrim Harpoon Crew and Vongrim Salvagers a 6+ ward while they contest an objective. It suits melee-forward lists built around these newer units rather than the classic ship-heavy gunline. (Paraphrased - confirm exact ward value, unit list and conditions in your current battletome or Wahapedia.)

What the formation does

While friendly Vongrim Harpoon Crew and Vongrim Salvagers units are contesting an objective, they gain a 6+ ward (a chance to shrug off wounds/damage). This makes your Vongrim more durable exactly where it matters - on the points. Verify the exact ward and which units qualify in current rules.

Who it suits

Players building a more aggressive, infantry-and-melee Kharadron list around the Vongrim units, using them to push and hold objectives while ships provide support fire. A change of pace from the pure gunline approach.

Key units

Vongrim Salvagers - hard-hitting melee duardin who also buff nearby Skyfarers.
Vongrim Harpoon Crew - anti-monster specialists with mobility.
Support heroes and ships - to buff and screen the Vongrim as they advance onto objectives.

When to pick it

Choose it when your list actually invests in multiple Vongrim units and expects them to fight over contested objectives. Skip it if you run a traditional ships-and-Arkanaut-Company gunline with few or no Vongrim.

Common questions

Which units get the ward?

The Vongrim Harpoon Crew and Vongrim Salvagers - the newer Vongrim infantry - not your ships or Arkanaut Company. The ward applies specifically while they are contesting an objective. Confirm the exact unit list and ward value in current rules.

Is this formation worth it without Vongrim units?

No - its entire benefit is tied to Vongrim units on objectives. Only take it if your army includes them. Ship-and-infantry gunlines are better served by the transport or durability formations.
