Special Procurement is the flexible, low-commitment formation: it lets you give a non-unique Kharadron Overlords hero an extra artefact of power, tailoring a leader to your gameplan. It suits players who want customisation without changing how their core list plays. (Paraphrased - confirm which artefact lists are eligible and any restrictions in your current battletome or Wahapedia.)

What the formation does

You pick a friendly non-unique Kharadron Overlords hero that doesn't already have an artefact of power and grant them one additional artefact (from the eligible lists). It's a way to bolt extra utility, protection, or offence onto a supporting character. Verify eligible artefact sources in current rules.

Who it suits

Players who like list-tailoring and want to answer specific matchups by kitting out a hero, without committing to a mechanically demanding formation. A safe, generalist pick when no other formation clearly fits your build.

Key units

Non-unique heroes (e.g. Endrinmaster, Aether-Khemist, Aetheric Navigator, Null-Khemist, Codewright) - the intended recipients of the bonus artefact.
Your core ships and infantry - unchanged, but now supported by a more customised leader.

When to pick it

Pick it when the other formations don't suit your list, or when a well-chosen extra artefact meaningfully upgrades a key hero for the matchups you expect. It's the flexible default rather than a build-defining choice.

Common questions

Can any hero take the extra artefact?

It targets a non-unique Kharadron Overlords hero that doesn't already have an artefact of power. Named/unique characters are typically excluded. Confirm eligibility and which artefact lists apply in your current battletome.

Is a bonus artefact really worth a whole formation slot?

It's a flexible, low-risk choice rather than a powerhouse. If a specific artefact sharply upgrades a key hero for your plan it can be excellent; otherwise a transport or durability formation may do more for a dedicated gunline.
