Bacchanal of Blood is the battle formation for vampire-focused, aggressive armies. Sources consistently reported it granting bonuses to casting and to wound for VAMPIRE units (for example, improved wounding on the charge). Verify the exact bonuses and conditions in your current faction pack before relying on them.
What the formation does
It buffs your VAMPIRE units offensively and magically β reported as a casting bonus for vampires not in combat and a to-wound bonus for vampires that charged. In practice it turns Blood Knights and vampire heroes into a reliable, spell-supported hammer.
Who it suits
Players who want a faster, more aggressive, elite-leaning army built around vampires and Blood Knights, using cheaper undead only as a screen. It rewards proactive play and good charges rather than pure attrition.
Key units
- Blood Knights as the primary hammer
- Vampire Lord (on foot, Nightmare Steed, or Zombie Dragon) for buffs, casting and melee
- Named vampires such as Prince Vhordrai where points allow
- A thin screen of zombies/skeletons to protect the charge
When to pick it
Pick it when your list's win condition is killing key targets with vampires, and when you can reliably line up charges. It is less effective if you are running a slow, hero-light horde with few VAMPIRE units to benefit.
Common questions
Do the bonuses apply to all my units?
No β they are reported as VAMPIRE-keyword bonuses, so your skeletons and zombies do not get them. Build around actual vampire units (heroes and Blood Knights) to get value, and confirm the keyword requirement in your faction pack.
Is this the most aggressive formation?
Generally yes among the four β it explicitly rewards charging and spell-supported vampire offence. If you prefer to grind and out-last opponents instead, Legion of Shyish or a skeleton/zombie formation fits better.
