How to spot incomplete used 40K kits

Photo checks, checklists, and red flags so you do not overpay for a missing sprue.

Incomplete used kits are the most expensive mistake on the secondary market. Sellers may not know what is missing. You have to verify.

Red flags

  • +No sprue photos, only painted models.
  • +Vague titles like "army lot" without a checklist.
  • +Bits bags with no base count.
  • +Prices far below sealed without explanation.

What to ask for

  1. 1Photos of every sprue frame, both sides.
  2. 2A written list of missing parts.
  3. 3Close-ups of fragile bits (guns, antennas, wings).
  4. 4Confirmation of bases and transfer sheets if they matter to you.

How SprueSentry helps

Used rows keep live thumbs and condition chips. Prefer sealed price rows when you want a clean alert. For used, open the listing and verify before you buy.

Should you buy incomplete on purpose?

Only if the discount covers buying the missing bits separately, and you know those bits are available.
