Take it when you own daemon engines and want them to hit like the models look. Compared with Cult of the Arkifane, which is the other 2-DP vehicle detachment, Soulforged Warpack is the offensive option: Arkifane gives every vehicle a 5+ invulnerable save, Soulforged gives Daemon Vehicles a much larger damage payout for a riskier pact. If your engines keep dying, take Arkifane; if they keep failing to kill things, take this.
Be clear-eyed about the limits. The rule names Daemon Vehicle, and your Predators, Vindicators and Rhinos are not that until you spend a command point each. The -1 to the Leadership test is a real cost on a unit whose Leadership is nothing special, and a failed pact is D3 mortal wounds on the engine you were about to swing with. And the pack's three rewritten stratagem targets narrowed the detachment further.
Sample gameplan: build around two or three genuine Daemon Vehicles so the rule is live from turn one. Spend Daemonic Possession early on your best plain tank so it joins them. Put Tempting Addendum on a character that will stay within 3 inches of the engines, and Invigorated Mechatendrils on the Warpsmith so it can. Invoke the contract with the engine that is about to fight, spend Desperate Pledge on the attack, and use Glut of Souls on the melee turn to pay back the wounds you took.
