Questor Forgepact: The 11th-Edition Knights and Adeptus Mechanicus Detachment

Part one, an aura on your Knights. Friendly IMPERIAL KNIGHTS models gain Assisted Targeting (Aura): while a friendly ADEPTUS MECHANICUS unit is within 6 inches of this model, that unit's ranged attacks have +1 Ballistic Skill and [HEAVY]. Note the direction: the Knight is the source and the Mechanicus unit is the beneficiary.

Part two, a heal on your Tech-Priests. Friendly TECH-PRIEST models gain Sacristan Pledge: in your Command phase, select one friendly IMPERIAL KNIGHTS model within 3 inches that has not been selected by this ability this phase, and it heals D3 wounds. Three inches is close. Plan for the Tech-Priest to walk with the Knight rather than behind the line.

Part three, the army construction clause. Mechanicus Allies: you can include TECH-PRIEST DOMINUS, TECH-PRIEST MANIPULUS, MARSHAL, RANGERS and VANGUARD units in your army, and the combined points value of such units cannot exceed 500 points.

That third clause is one of only two army construction rules the Imperial Knights have, and the only one printed first-party. It is not a Detachment Point rule and it does not change your DP budget; it is a points allowance that exists only while you are running this detachment.

Omnissiah's Grace (1CP, any phase, when a friendly IMPERIAL KNIGHTS unit suffers a mortal wound). That unit has Feel No Pain 5+ against mortal wounds. Mortal wounds route around both Toughness and invulnerable saves, which is the standard efficient way to kill a Knight. This is the cheapest insurance against it in the faction.

Vengeance of the Machine Cult (1CP, any phase, when a friendly IMPERIAL KNIGHTS TITANIC unit is destroyed by an enemy unit). Target one friendly ADEPTUS MECHANICUS unit. The killer is marked until the end of the battle, and while marked, friendly ADEPTUS MECHANICUS attacks against it can re-roll wound rolls. Note the TITANIC gate on the trigger and the ADEPTUS MECHANICUS gate on the payout: this stratagem is dead in both directions if you took the detachment without taking allies.

In the Shadow of Giants (1CP, your Movement phase, when a friendly ADEPTUS MECHANICUS unit is selected to make an advance or fall-back move). That move does not prevent the unit from being eligible to start an action. Actions are how secondary missions get scored, and Skitarii are the cheap models you want doing them. This turns an Advance from a wasted turn into a repositioning tool.

Magos Questoris (20 points). TECH-PRIEST model only. When using this model's Sacristan Pledge ability, the selected IMPERIAL KNIGHTS model heals 2 additional wounds. D3 becomes D3 plus 2: the floor rises from 1 to 3 and the ceiling from 3 to 5.

Check the restriction twice when you write your list. This enhancement goes on a Tech-Priest, not on a Knight. It is unusual for a Knights detachment to put its best enhancement on a borrowed model, and it means the Mechanicus Allies clause is not optional if you want it.

Knight of the Opus Machina (Aura) (15 points). IMPERIAL KNIGHTS model only. While a friendly ADEPTUS MECHANICUS unit is within 6 inches of this model, that unit's melee attacks have +1 Weapon Skill and +1 Armour Penetration. This is the melee counterpart to the detachment rule's ranged aura, on the same 6 inch bubble, so a single well-placed Knight can be buffing the same Skitarii unit in both directions.

Enhancement points are dataslate-volatile and neither value carries a change marker in this pass.

Q: Can Adeptus Mechanicus units use the Doctrina Imperatives ability when taken as part of the Questor Forgepact Detachment? A: No.

That is worth internalising before you spend 500 points. The Mechanicus units you bring here are bodies, guns and action-takers with the detachment's own +1 Ballistic Skill aura on top. They are not a Mechanicus army with its army rule intact. Build them as a support element rather than as a second faction.

At 1 Detachment Point this is the most flexible detachment in the faction, and it carries no Unique Tag, so every pairing below is unambiguously legal.
