More Dakka! is a rebuilt Orks shooting detachment in the Warhammer 40,000 11th edition Faction Pack (June 2026). At 1 Detachment Point it's a cheap, focused package that makes an infantry gunline-horde mobile and turns Ork volume-of-fire into real damage.

This is SprueSentry strategy commentary, not official rules. The rules below are confirmed from the current Faction Pack; the 1-DP cost lives in the Warhammer 40,000 app, so confirm before a game.

What the Dakka! Dakka! Dakka! detachment rule does

Your Ork Infantry units' ranged attacks gain Assault (so they can Advance and still shoot), and in your Shooting phase while the Waaagh! is active they also gain Sustained Hits 1. That's the classic Ork answer to their unreliable ballistic skill: trade accuracy for volume, and let the whole horde advance up the board while still firing. Its ceiling turn is the Waaagh! turn, when every Ork Infantry unit adds sustained hits on top of the assault mobility.

Stratagems and when to use them

  • Speshul Shells (Shooting) β€” a unit's ranged attacks gain +1 AP against targets within 9". Layer it into a key mob's volley to punch through armour.
  • Long, Uncontrolled Bursts (Shooting) β€” a unit's ranged attacks Ignore Cover, to strip a dug-in target.
  • Call Dat Dakka? (opponent's Shooting) β€” after an enemy shoots one of your Infantry mobs, that mob snap-fires back at the attacker. Bait a screen, then punish it.

Enhancements worth taking

  • Dead Shiny Shootas β€” the bearer's unit gains Rapid Fire 1 (or +1 to an existing Rapid Fire value). Combined with Assault, that's advance-and-double-tap firepower on a Shoota Boyz or Meganobz mob.
  • Da Gobshot Thunderbuss β€” the bearer's gun gains Devastating Wounds and Hazardous: high payoff, but it can hurt the bearer, so put it on a model you can risk.

Key units

  • Shoota Boyz β€” cheap, numerous Infantry that benefit most from Assault and the Waaagh! Sustained Hits, and the natural Dead Shiny Shootas carrier.
  • Lootas β€” heavy Infantry whose volume of fire scales hugely with Sustained Hits and Ignores Cover.
  • Flash Gitz β€” high-quality Ork guns that hit hard when stacked with the buffs.
  • Tankbustas β€” anti-vehicle Infantry; Assault keeps them mobile and Speshul Shells improves reliability.
  • A character bearer (Warboss or Big Mek) β€” carries Dead Shiny Shootas or Da Gobshot Thunderbuss into a firing mob.

When to take More Dakka!

Take it (1 DP) for a shooting-forward, infantry-heavy 'gunline horde' that wants mobility. The Assault-plus-Waaagh!-Sustained-Hits rule fixes Orks' unreliable shooting by trading accuracy for volume, and lets you advance up the board while still firing. Its cheap, focused profile suits massed Boyz, Lootas and Flash Gitz rather than vehicles, and it bolts onto a 2-DP melee core to add real ranged pressure. It's a deliberately streamlined rebuild of the classic More Dakka.

Sample gameplan: deploy a wide screen of Shoota Boyz, Lootas and Flash Gitz. Push up each turn using Assault to Advance-and-shoot while grabbing objectives. Time the Waaagh! for your biggest shooting turn so every Infantry unit adds Sustained Hits 1; layer Speshul Shells (+1 AP inside 9") into a key volley and Long, Uncontrolled Bursts to strip cover. Bait the enemy into shooting a screen, then punish with Call Dat Dakka?.

Common questions

How much does More Dakka! cost in Detachment Points?

1 DP, making it a cheap shooting support to bolt onto a 2-DP melee core (a Green Tide horde, say) or run as the backbone of an infantry gunline-horde at a 2,000-point game.

What is the More Dakka! detachment rule?

Dakka! Dakka! Dakka!: your Ork Infantry ranged weapons gain Assault (advance and still shoot), and while the Waaagh! is active they also gain Sustained Hits 1 β€” trading Orks' poor accuracy for sheer volume of fire.

What units are best in More Dakka!?

Massed Ork Infantry shooting: Shoota Boyz, Lootas, Flash Gitz and Tankbustas, plus a Warboss or Big Mek carrying Dead Shiny Shootas (Rapid Fire) or Da Gobshot Thunderbuss into a firing mob.

Is More Dakka! only good on the Waaagh! turn?

The Sustained Hits half only applies while the Waaagh! is active, so that's its ceiling turn β€” but the Assault half is always on, letting your infantry advance and still shoot every turn, which is valuable on its own.
