Forge Brethren is the defensive battle formation for Fyreslayers in Age of Sigmar 4th edition. It is often described as a general save bonus, and it is not.

The formation ability is Bulwark of Molten Stone, and it is passive. Add 1 to save rolls for friendly Fyreslayers Infantry units while they are wholly within friendly territory.
An extra point of save on duardin infantry that already carry good armour is a serious durability jump, and unlike a ward it works against everything with a save roll.
The bonus follows your half of the board. Every model in the unit has to be inside friendly territory, so a unit straddling the centre line loses the save for the whole unit, not just for the models over the line.
That makes Forge Brethren an unusual choice for an army whose instinct is to walk forward. It is a formation for missions and match-ups where the points are on your side of the table, or where the plan is to make the enemy come to you and grind them down on ground you already hold.
Players who want to play the objective game rather than the kill game: hold your own half with cheap Infantry, contest the middle with your Magmadroths and Heroes, and win on points. It is also the best answer to a shooting-heavy opponent, because the save bonus applies to shooting as well as combat.
Pick Forge Brethren when the mission or the match-up means your Infantry will spend most of the game at home. If your plan is to push, Warrior Kinband rewards that instead, and the two formations pull in opposite directions, so do not try to build for both.
It is passive: friendly Fyreslayers Infantry units add 1 to their save rolls while they are wholly within friendly territory.
No. It only applies while the unit is wholly within friendly territory, so pushing your infantry over the centre line turns it off.
No. It applies to Fyreslayers Infantry units only.
